It all began in the mid nineteenth century. A young man, with a twinkle in his eye, left his native town of Bhavnagar, Gujarat, in India and migrated to the city of Mumbai (Bombay). His ancestors for generations had been silversmiths. And so he set up shop as a silversmith in the Sutar Chawl in the then commercial heartland of Mumbai. His name was Narotamdas Bhau. The business of Narotamdas Bhau expanded steadily based as it was on artistic and quality workmanship. By mid twentieth century, the firm of Narotamdas Bhau, now presided over by his fourth generation heirs was a flourishing business manufacturing and dealing in fine jewellery, precious stones, gold ornaments silver ware and watches. Having catered to the Maharajas of the Raj, today the fifth generation heirs of Narotamdas Bhau operate under the name of N. Bhau (Jewellers) Pvt. Ltd. And continue the grand traditions of Narotamdas Bhau. The fine craft of jewellery making practiced at N. Bhau will continue into the future.
